Cosine Nanoelectronics has introduced the COS6212, a high-performance line driver power amplifier designed specifically for Broadband Power Line Carrier (PLC) communications. The chip integrates a pair of differential high-voltage current feedback operational amplifiers, delivering exceptionally low distortion and spurious noise floor levels.
For enhanced safety and stability, the COS6212 features an integrated common-mode buffer circuit and an over-temperature protection system. When the internal junction temperature reaches 140°C, the thermal shutdown protection triggers, outputting a high-level active flag (FLAG) to inform the system MCU. This allows the MCU to dynamically lower the transmit signal amplitude or temporarily halt transmission to protect the hardware.
Key Operational Features
Manufactured on a high-voltage bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD) process, the COS6212 supports high-voltage rails up to 40V. It is housed in a QFN24 (4mm x 5mm) thermally enhanced package, rated for the full industrial temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
